World Series Preview: Top 5 Coolest Gloves in the WS
Sunrise Sports is back now with some World Series coverage, and we are going to interview a glove collector who runs a prominent Instagram glove trading and collection page, Jaxon Jabara. Jaxon created @CoachellaGloves in April of 2015 that started with just his own game glove and has grown to a collection close to 40.
His highlight gloves include a Steven Strasburg game used, pro issued signed Nike Diamond Elite Pro, collegiate issued gloves from Washington, ASU, Vanderbilt, and Oregon State, and a Hanley Ramirez Pro Issue Wilson. Jaxon is a glove fanatic and wants to point out some of the best looking gloves to look for in Boston and Los Angeles.
5. Mookie Betts – Wilson Glove of the Month 12.75 SuperSkin H Web
Betts might be a huge threat at the plate, but his defense has been nearly as valuable even after moving to the outfield a few years ago. This season he chose to go with red super skin with goes well with the navy and blonde on the glove. The Wilson SuperSkin makes his glove lighter than a traditional A2K which fits his speed and agility well in the outfield.
4. Walker Buehler – Wilson Dodger Blue A2000
The rookie has burst onto the scene and has been a great number 2 to Clayton Kershaw down the stretch. Buehler’s glove might be the boldest glove of this bunch because it boasts Dodger blue with hints of red. A2000 is the popular choice for pitchers that are signed by Wilson. He uses the same web that Jose Fernandez famously used.
3. Ian Kinsler – Nike Elite J Black 11.5
Kinsler swapped coasts at the trade deadline to take the place of injured Dustin Pedroia, and his glove has a Japanese style web which he has had the majority of his career. He is using the same model he has used since Detroit, but the accent colors are red now because of the Angels and Red Sox. Jaxon’s favorite glove is the Elite J, and they are only being produced for pros now.
2. Manny Machado – Rawlings Pro Preferred PRONP5 V-Web
Much like Kinsler, Machado has switched coasts from Baltimore to LA, and Manny brought his flash with him. He is using a gold-labeled Pro Preferred although he has previously earned platinum labels from Rawlings. The camel colored glove he used a bit in Baltimore has a classy but still flashy feel to it.
1. Craig Kimbrel – Nike Elite J
With recent reports coming out that Kimbrel has been tipping pitches, this is just another reason to closely watch him. The T Web features a Psalms verse on the pinky which is rare and his own personal stance logo on the palm. This glove is similar to Kinsler’s Elite J with the colorway and accents, and he uses one glove throughout the entirety of a season.
Make sure to watch and enjoy the World Series this year between the Dodgers and Red Sox, and check out @CoachellaGloves on Instagram to see his outstanding collection of gloves.
